Awnlux SA5700 Electric Solar RV Awning
The SA5700 does two things at once that previously required separate systems: it provides a shade awning and generates off-grid power. This is not a niche feature — for RV users who boondock, free-camp, or park at sites without shore power hookups, managing battery charge is a constant constraint. A 20ft SA5700 at full extension produces up to 1,560W peak and approximately 6.2–9.4 kWh per day in good sun, which is enough to run a 12V compressor fridge, LED lighting, phone charging, and a fan simultaneously without drawing down the battery.
The SA5700 is the motorized version of the solar roll-out range. One button extends the awning and begins the power generation. One button retracts it. A crank handle backup port is built in for manual closure if the motor or battery is unavailable. The awning pitch is adjustable so the solar fabric can be angled toward the sun rather than hanging at the default fixed angle — improving generation efficiency in the morning and evening when the sun is low.
The CIGS thin-film solar fabric generates power differently from standard silicon panels. Silicon cells connected in series lose output across the entire string when any part is shaded — 30% tree cover can drop silicon to 15% output. CIGS is a continuous film with no series-connected cells. Under the same 30% tree shade, CIGS retains 72% output. This makes the SA5700 practical at campsites with trees, in overcast conditions, and in the partial shading that defines real-world outdoor use rather than a rooftop test environment.
The SA5700 carries four independent European certifications covering the structural awning system, the motorized mechanism, and the CIGS solar module's electrical safety and hazardous substance compliance. For OEM partners, the SA5700 is available with custom sizing within the 8–20ft range, private label branding, and bespoke packaging.
• Motorized open and close — one button; crank handle backup if motor or power fails
• CIGS thin-film solar fabric generates DC power while shading
• 72% output retained under 30% tree shade (vs 15% for silicon panels)
• Fabric angle adjustable to face sun position — optimises generation efficiency
• 360° rollable CIGS fabric — min. 4cm reel diameter, flexible without cracking
• 1.3 kg/m² fabric weight — 43% lighter than equivalent silicon panels
• No hot-spot effect — partial shading affects only the shaded area
• Standard MC4 DC output — compatible with 12V, 24V, and 48V battery systems
• 8–20ft width range; 8ft extension; wall-mount (vertical) installation
• Verified through 3,600 open/close fatigue test cycles
• 8–10 year combined mechanical and electrical lifespan
• Motor 3-year warranty; Solar Component Workmanship 3-year warranty
• 5-year 80% power efficiency guarantee on CIGS solar fabric
• EN 13561:2015, CE, LVD+EMC, and RoHS certified — four independent EU certifications
• OEM custom size, logo, and packaging available

Q1: Can the SA5700 close manually if the motor fails?
Yes. A crank handle backup port is built into the SA5700. If the motor fails or the battery is flat while the awning is extended, insert the crank handle and close the awning manually. This backup is standard on all Awnlux motorized solar awning models.
Q2: What is the difference between SA5700 and SA5600?
SA5700 is motorized — one button opens and closes the awning, with a crank handle backup. SA5600 is manual only, using a pull strap and pull rod for both opening and closing. Both use identical CIGS solar fabric, cover the same width range, and generate the same amount of power per square metre. SA5700 costs more due to the motor. Choose SA5700 for daily use and fast retraction; choose SA5600 for simplicity or off-grid builds with no motor power available.
Q3: What is the difference between SA5700 and SA5900?
SA5700 is a roll-out awning — the solar fabric is exposed when retracted. SA5900 is a full cassette awning — the solar fabric is sealed in an aluminum shell when retracted, providing better protection during travel. SA5700 covers up to 20ft wide; SA5900 covers up to 400cm wide. SA5700 covers a wider range; SA5900 is recommended when fabric protection during long-distance travel is a priority.
Q4: Does the SA5700 work in partial shade or cloudy weather?
Yes. CIGS thin-film retains 72% output under 30% tree shade (vs 15% for silicon). On a cloudy day, CIGS holds around 45% output vs 25% for silicon. The SA5700 is practical in the mixed light typical of campsites.
Q5: Does the MPPT controller come included?
No. The SA5700 outputs standard MC4 DC power. Connect to an MPPT controller sourced separately based on your battery voltage and chemistry. Contact our team with your battery type and voltage for specification recommendations.
Q6: Can I adjust the awning angle to face the sun?
Yes. The SA5700 support arms can be adjusted so the solar fabric faces the sun more directly. This improves power generation efficiency compared to a fixed-angle roof panel, particularly in the morning and evening when the sun is low.
Q7: Is the SA5700 certified for European market sales?
Yes. Four EU certifications from UDEM International Certification: EN 13561:2015 (M.2026.206.C0134616, valid Feb 2031), CE Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC (M.2026.206.C0134729, valid Feb 2031), LVD + EMC (M.2025.206.C130953, valid Dec 2030), RoHS (M.2025.206.C130954, valid Dec 2030). All include the SA5700 in the covered model list.
Q8: What power output can I expect from a 15ft SA5700?
The 15ft SA5700 produces 1,220W peak. In good sun conditions with 6 peak sun hours, this generates approximately 4.9–7.3 kWh per day. Real output varies with sun angle, shading, and weather. CIGS significantly outperforms silicon in less-than-ideal conditions — Solar Awning Technical White Paper.
